> The hiatus thing

alphacentauri's neocities post saying: 'I FINISHED UNI!! graduated!! it's finally done!! i finally have more time to work on the site again!'

And then I Didn't.

I didn't actually end up having much inspiration to work on the site besides one or two pages for the past month, even though I finally had the time :(

And now? Well, I have a Job now! I'm filling the role of junior IT support now, which means I do a bit of everything connected to computers and software. I'm really happy that this opportunity has presented itself, and so soon after graduating :)
(I was real worried that the job hunt would take me months and that I wouldn't find anything in my field, but the job offer was basically handed to me because of a previous connection I made during uni!)

I'll get back into updating the site semi-regularly.. someday. It's as much a 'I have less time because I'm working 8-16' thing, as it is a 'I just don't have the inspiration to make anything new now' thing. For now, I'll leave ya with this blog update.

So, what else is new?

> Silksong came out

I spent an ungodly amout of time the past 2 weeks playing Hollow Knight: Silksong.

It's one of the most anticipated games of the year, and I can definitely see why (Even though game of the year spot is forever taken by Deltarune in my heart). Don't worry! I'll talk about my thoughts of the game, but I'll keep it non-spoilery!

The game looks absolutely beautiful, and I love the characters and the soundtrack. The movement feels way better and smoother than in the original Hollow Knight, which is also a huge plus. It makes traversing all the areas way more satisfying.

The difficulty, uhh.. I can't say much about it, tbh. I'm not really a Gamer of this sort, so a lot of games I absolutely adore otherwise are just.. too hard for me to play. My reflexes and general skills regarding game controls aren't really top notch, so I have to find my own way to enjoy the games I want to play.

When I played Hollow Knight a few years ago, I had to use difficulty scaling mods to be able to enjoy my playthrough. And I'm not ashamed of it!!! Because I enjoyed the game, even though I was objectively cheating!! It's a singleplayer game, who cares!

So, that being said, I absolutely had to install an toggleable invincibility mod about halfway through my first playthrough of Silksong. And honestly? A great move on my part. I was able to enjoy the experience of exploring the different parts of the game, and the story! - without the added frustration of dying at nearly every encounter with a fellow bug. And most importantly - I was able to actually play the game I was waiting for for so long!

I'm now slugging my way through a second - non-cheating - playthrough, and I am Struggling to get through the late Act I area and boss. Wish me luck :d

Because of this game, and my prolonged exposure to the main character, Hornet might be becoming a new addition to my list of Favourite Characters (I might have to make a special page about my Favourite Characters someday). She scratches the same itch in my brain that Kim Kitsuragi from Disco Elysium does, if this makes any sense to anyone. In my mind they're very similar, specifically in the way they talk, for some reason.

I love how stone-faced, but at the same time unserious Hornet is. I love how powerful and skilled she is in combat (even though I, personally, am not lol). I adore the way she talks to other bugs, and her notes in the Hunter's Journal. I want her to succeed at everything and Win and Win and Win and I Need to Be Like Her.

This game is so cool. Anyway, I'll go back to Pharloom now :p
